The crew Barbaydose releases their latest offering "Look Up At The Sky", produced by Hiright. Keep your eyes open for some hidden easter eggs that emphasize the nature of conspiracies/science fiction while pulling back the veil on what society deems fact or fiction. I know these are real conversations that Barbaydose have in their lives because I've been there to discuss these theories of what's seen and unseen. 1. Artist name/Influences:
Barbaydose is a rap trio featuring Bsidez, WeIntheCloud and Hiright. Based out of the Bay Area. Rooted in Oakland and El Cerrito. Our collective musical experience is vast and decades combined. Seasoned vets in all aspects of creation. Currently the weight of the production for the group is handled by Hiright with Cloud and Bsidez holding down the bar work. We each have a plethora of influences, most say we remind them of a variant of OutKast, Red & Meth and at times, Hiero or Dilated Peoples but with our own flavor.
2. Info on the song: is it a single or part of a bigger project? Is there a particular reason you chose to release it now?
Look Up At The Sky is the second single off our next record coming out this year. We as friends and musical collaborators have a lot of conversations about the state of the world, observations on what some would call conspiracies and science fiction. This song tackles some of those topics and as we go further and further into what would have been considered the future some of those things that were once labeled science fiction or conspiracy are now turning into fact. We wanted to have some fun with this visual so we took one of those common threads and created a science fact/fiction account of a day shooting content with Barbaydose. The misadventures of the crew if you will. There are some references to childhood influences and other Easter eggs in the visual so keep your eyes peeled.
3. What’s next? Shows, more music/projects, other productions etc etc
Next on the list for us is to gear up for this record and to release a couple more visuals showcasing the songs. We have some collaborations that will drop in between our Barbaydose work and a few solo singles on the docket. A lot of work to be shared in the coming months. As far as shows go we will be doing a release party for the record and start doing the big push for shows once the record drops, performing all new material plus some of the classics.
4. Production credits for the song (music, video production)
In our typical DIY fashion we leaned on Hiright for the production and shooting the video with the performance, lyrics and creative direction coming from Bsidez and Weinthecloud. As for most of our work it is a collaborative effort. We throw a lot of ideas out there while iterating the concept and even call audibles during the process. Staying fluid allows us to have an evolving perspective and gives the art a chance to have a say in what it wants to be.
